User Guide
From Requiem of Dreams
Welcome to RoD! Below are some helpful links and bits of info to help make your gaming experience with us the best it can be.
Before we begin: Please note the Forums are the official repository of information for RoD. Everything on the Forums trumps that on the Wiki.

How to get started
The first thing to do is create a user name on the main website: http://www.requiemofdreams.com/. This will be your OOC name, your Wiki login, and your forum login. Note: Forum access requires activation - this keeps the number of bots down. Please log into the chat, and an Admin will get you access.
Please read the TOS before stating you agree to it. The TOS is listed here: http://www.requiemofdreams.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=377&t=4297 - and failure to read is not an excuse for not complying.
It is strongly suggested that you go to "Update profile" And make sure "Show Username" is selected - this allows people to know how to FPM you, as well as see who you play when you're logged in on the OOC.
Also note: per this: http://requiemofdreams.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=377&t=430 - accounts are cleaned out once a month. This includes forum accounts - if you have not posted anywhere, your account will get purged at the end of the month. If this happens, just remake the account with the same name when you're ready to post.
Character Creation
Every Venue has creation rules in their Venue Information subforum. PLEASE read this information prior to creating a character - it offers house rules, restrictions, any banned merits or flaws, and expectations and limitations that may be in place.
All characters require a background posted on the forums. The history MUST be on the forums to be sanctioned, even if it's also on the sheet.
To do this, you make a post in the "XP, EQ and Scene Requests" subforum for the appropriate venue, with the post being your character's name - this should be the name that appears on the chat when you log in. Only you and the Admins/Staff can see this thread.
IMPORTANT! - This thread will be used for all XP requests, etc, for this character. 1 thread per character.
Character sheets are made using the Create Character function on the main page. (Right hand tool bar)
Character Wikis
If you choose, once you're sanctioned you may make a wiki for your character. If you need help, please use the help link on the left tool bar, or click here.
How to play
If you're looking for scheduled scenes, check the forums in your venue to see how your STs list them. If you don't know, feel free to ask! You do not need a scheduled scene to play, however - find others in the OOC room and go have fun.
Crossover
Crossover play- play between venues - is a tricky subject. Every Venue has sections in the forums relating to crossover rules, and how different supers affect you/how you affect different supers. However, the general rule of thumb is as follows:
Mundane meetings between people are fine - sitting around drinking coffee? Not an issue. The moment powers are used, however, STs from both venues need to be present. "Hi, my name is joe"=fine. "Hi, my name is Joe The Almighty Vampire who will now Dominate you Mwahahaha" = not fine.
Always, always, always feel free to ask if you're not sure.
Experience Points
Experience points, or XP, is gained at the rate of 1 a day, up to 6/week. This is given as you log in, and is not automatic. your XP is listed as Temporary during the week, and rolled over to Perm XP at 12:01AM PST, Monday.
Also as noted above, It is strongly suggested that you go to "Update profile" And make sure "Show Username" is selected - this allows people to know how to FPM you, as well as see who you play when you're logged in on the OOC. This helps find people in your venue to play with.
Where to find info
The forums are your best friends. They have all sorts of info listed for various venues, and if you can't find what you need, an FPM to the ST in question is always a good idea.
Where to post?
http://www.requiemofdreams.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=377&t=5772 -This is the Subforum guide, which explains where various things are posted, by venue.
I have a suggestion!
We love them! they go here: http://www.requiemofdreams.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=378 - and are only viewable by you and Admins/HSTs.
I have a complaint!
We'd like to hear it. Complaints should first be taken to the ST of the venue in question, but if you don't feel comfortable with that, then - they got here: http://www.requiemofdreams.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=573 - again only viewable by Admin/HSTs.
Please note - if complaining about a specific occurrence/person/claim of harassment, try to have a screenshot available as proof. Staff needs something to go off of before action can be taken. This isn't to say we don't trust you, it just keeps things from being he said/she said.
I have a question!
You've got options! Feel free to PM STs, FPM STs, ask in the OOC room.
Please note - Staff are players here too. Even if you know an ST's PC names, do not PM asking for official business unless they are on their blues. They get downtime too. This includes an ST who's on their OOC name. Bugging them about game things in downtime is a big no-no.
Pie
What's with pie? People talk about it all the time in the OOC.
Pie is a subtle code that the current conversation is getting to an uncomfortable point, or beating a dead horse. Pie is your signal to start talking about something else before the STs have to explicitly ask.
Last notes
This is for all information you need to know that's not listed elsewhere in here.
- Everyone here is here to have fun. Everyone. Staff, players, admins. Everyone follows the same rules. No one - NO ONE - deserves to be harassed. If you find you're being harassed, please take a screenshot and make a post in the complaint file.
- Keep the OOC room PG. And if someone asks you change the topic, do so. Might I suggest the topic of Pie as an alternative?
- Scenes about rape are prohibited. Even if both players are consensual, it's not allowed on the chat. At all.
What else do I need to know?
Have Fun.
Remember to maintain maturity.
Be respectful - this is a place for fun, and we expect it to remain that way.
The Forums are your friend - read them, know them.
Ask. Feel free to ask away. It's what staff is here for.
